Hummingbirds are the tiny, fascinating creatures belong to the avian family Trochilidae. Those native species of Americas have many distinct physically qualities which make them the most interesting bird spice in the world. Especially their different style of flying helps distinguish them from other birds.
They have long narrow wings which give them tremendous agility in the air. The construction of their wings is exactly adapted for the unique fly. Besides hummingbirds can fly upside-down and backward, they are the only vertebrates that capable of maintained hovering during flight. Few other birds can do any of the things that hummingbirds do but none as successfully as the hummingbird. There is no another bird spice who can fly like them.
According to they are known to being the smallest of all birds, the average hummingbird weighs just 3 grams. Hummingbirds’ primary locomotion is flight; they never stop beating wings. Because their legs and foot are too short and tiny to be able to neither walk nor hop. There is no surprise when it comes to their eggs being as tiny as beans. It makes sense that smallest birds lay the smallest eggs.
Hummingbirds are very intelligent birds. They can remember the places from one year to the next. They are also pugnacious. When jays crows and hawks violate their region, hummingbirds attack aggressively.
Even though there are more than 325 different hummingbird species in the world (only 8 of those species are found in US), all hummers have a similar appearance that makes them instantly recognizable. With its chubby streamlined body, long wings and narrow bill, you can’t mistake a jewel-like hummingbird than anything else!
