Nobel Prize in Literature

The 2020 Nobel Prize in Literature found its winner

The winner of the 2020 Nobel Prize for Literature has been announced. Swedish academy members awarded the 2020 Nobel Prize for Literature to the American poet Louise Glück.

The Swedish Academy presented the 2018 and 2019 Nobel Prizes for Literature together for allegations of sexual abuse in 2018. The 2018 Nobel Prize for Literature was awarded to Polish author Olga Tokarczuk, who represents “crossing borders with an encyclopedic passion as a way of life” with her narrative imagination. The 2019 Nobel Prize for Literature was presented to Austrian author Peter Handke for “experiencing the limits of human experience with his literary skill”. Tokarczuk and Handke, 9 million Swedish krona
He was the winner of the (approximately 8 million Turkish lira) award.

It was revealed that Katarine Frostenson's wife, Jean Jacques Arnault, a member of the Swedish Academy, was involved in the sexual abuse incident. 18 women filed criminal complaints against Jean Jacques Arnault. Three academy members resigned, claiming that an attempt was made to cover up what happened.
NOBEL

The Nobel Prize for Literature was shelved due to the sexual abuse scandal that broke out in 2018.

It was revealed that Katarine Frostenson’s wife, Jean Jacques Arnault, a member of the Swedish Academy, was involved in the sexual abuse incident. 18 women filed criminal complaints against Jean Jacques Arnault. Three academy members resigned, claiming that an attempt was made to cover up what happened.

The Nobel Prize is a prestigious award that aims to reward those who serve humanity, given by the association founded by Alfred Nobel with his will, dated 27 November 1895 and announced in Stockholm on 30 December 1896. The first Nobel Prizes were given in 1901.

The Nobel Prizes (Swedish: Nobelpriset, Norwegian: Nobelprisen) are awarded by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, the Swedish Academy, the Karolinska Institute and the Norwegian Nobel Committee to individuals or organizations for their outstanding achievements in physics, chemistry, literature, peace and Physiology or Medicine. [1] It has been managed and run by the Nobel Foundation since 1896, in line with the legacy of Alfred Nobel in 1895. Another award given in the field of economics started in 1968 for the contribution of Sveriges Riksbank and the Central Bank to the Swedish economy.

Each award is given by a separate committee; The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences offers awards in physics, chemistry, economics, the Karolinska Institute in Physiology or Medicine, and the Norwegian Nobel Committee awards in literature.

Each award is given by a separate committee; The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences offers awards in physics, chemistry, economics, the Karolinska Institute in Physiology or Medicine, and the Norwegian Nobel Committee awards in literature. A five-person council elected by the Norwegian Parliament from the Swedish Academy gives awards in the field of peace. The person or institution that deserves an award receives a medal, a diploma and a varying amount of money over the years. In 1901, the first Nobel Prize winners were awarded 150,782 SEK. This award was equal to SEK 7,731,004 in December 2007. At the Nobel’s death anniversary ceremonies held on 10 December 2008 in Stockholm, prize winners were awarded SEK 10,000,000.

As of 2011, a total of 826 individuals and organizations have been awarded, including 20 organizations and 69 economic award winners. [6] The four Nobel Prize winners were denied permission by their respective governments to receive the Nobel Prize. The Adolf Hitler government of Germany did not allow Richard Kuhn (chemistry, 1938), Adolf Butenandt (chemistry, 1939) and Gerhard Domagk (Physiology or Medicine, 1939) to receive the awards. Under pressure from the Soviet Union, Boris Pasternak (literature, 1958) refused the award. They also refused to receive the Nobel Prize winner Jean-Paul Sartre (literature, 1964) and Lê Ðức Thọ (Peace, 1973). Of these, Sartre refused all official awards throughout his life. Lê Ðức Thọ did not receive the award due to the situation Vietnam was in those years.

The International Red Cross Committee has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize six times to date. Of the 826 Nobel prize winners, 43 are women; Marie Curie was the first woman to win the Nobel Prize in physics in 1903. Curie was also awarded the Nobel Prize in chemistry in 1911.
The prize money in the years when the Nobel Prize is not awarded due to external reasons or not being nominated are returned to the funds of the representatives authorized to award the prize. Between 1940 and 1942 II. Nobel Prizes could not be awarded due to World War II.
